In October 2023, PJI facilitated a panel during the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Right’s Human Dimension Implementation Meeting (HDMI) in Warsaw.

The Global Initiative for Justice Truth & Reconciliation (GIJTR) consortium project took the opportunity to raise the profile of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) during the war in Ukraine by hosting an expert panel entitled “Speaking Frankly about Conflict-Related Sexual Violence in Ukraine”. PJI facilitated the panel during which experts from IPHR, Truth Hounds, Blue Bird, and the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine (OPG) discussed their respective efforts to document CRSV during this conflict and how, from their perspectives, accountability could be achieved moving forward.

Participants in the panel included: Ihor Koral, Deputy Head of the CRSV Unit at the OPG; Oksana Pokalchuk, Senior Advisor on CRSV at IPHR; Natalia Zlyhostieva, field investigator and mental health professional at Truth Hounds; Nataliya Melnyk, mental health practitioner at Blue Bird; Simon Papuashvili, Program Director at IPHR; and Kathleen Roberts, Co-Director of PJI.
